Jim Gunn, President
“Gunner” (as he’s known in the oil patch) earned a commerce degree from the University of Calgary in 1972 and worked for nine years in the insurance business. He next worked for a land service firm where he broadened his right-of-way expertise, before starting MSL Land Services in 1983. One of his more significant achievements is the coordination and completion of a major 60-mile pipeline, amid time and budget constraints, for BP Canada Energy Company. To keep current and connected in his field, Gunner is an active member (and past president
of the Calgary chapter) of the International Right-of-Way Association (IRWA) and the Alberta Association of Surface Land Agents (AASLA). He was also a Councilor for the Town of Chestermere for six years.

Rob Gunn, Vice President
Rob became a member of the MSL team in February 2004, obtaining his permanent land agent license in January 2005. Before that, he gained valuable oil and gas knowledge for seven years as a survey crew chief. As such, Rob provides insight into the selection of surface lease locations and ROW route selection, but also has experience in Utility ROW acquisitions. He is responsible for the coordination and counseling of our team, as well as developing and maintaining excellent communications with our clients. Rob is an active member of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen (CAPL), Canadian Association of Petroleum Land Administration (CAPLA) and the International Right-of-Way Association (IRWA).

Jim Williams, Senior Land Agent
“Willie” joined MSL in 1989, bringing with him eight years in the oil and gas department of a major Canadian bank, as well as contract analysis experience with a major oil and gas company. Willie keeps current with various business administration and contract law courses and has gained varied land experience in both Alberta and Saskatchewan. Since 1990, he has been working closely with Amoco on Pipeline Corrosion inspection, a preventive maintenance program that saves money and prevents environmental damage. Willie is a member of the International Right-Of-Way Association (IRWA) and the Alberta Association of Surface Land Agents (AASLA). He recently made an application
on behalf of BP Canada Energy Company for an NEB submission.

Michael Ward, Business Development
From his Great Grandfather down through to his sister, Michael has been surrounded by the Oil and Gas Industry all his life. In 2004, Michael became a Land Agent. He has since seen active experience with both a Land Broker as a field Land Agent and a Major Oil and Gas Company as a Surface Land Coordinator. His past 7 years have given him the opportunity to travel to numerous locations across Western Canada with the goal of effective and positive acquistion. One of the highlights of his career was his involvement with the First Nations Bands and Metis Settlements within Alberta. Michael joined the MSL family in 2009 in order to provide positive growth into new energy industries and to continue to strengthen the already positive brand that MSL Land Services in recognized for.

Steve Roth, Senior Land Coordinator
Steve is a senior land agent and has been involved with surface rights in Alberta for 18 years and brings vast knowledge of all aspects of land acquisition and negotiation to our position of Senior Land Coordinator. He has worked with a variety of major oil and gas alternative energy companies. His specialty is facilitating difficult work projects and with his knowledge he is able to effectively negotiate and acquire these acquisitions. Steve has gathered many years of experience with government officials and First Nations which has given him the knowledge and background to work with a diverse group of stakeholders. Steve knows how to manage projects in a timely and budget conscience manner and his dedication to detail and follow through enables Steve to effectively save time and money. A current member of the International Right-of-Way Association (IRWA) and Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen (CAPL) allows Steve to further his education and maintain a high level of competency and current knowledge of the Western Canadian Energy Sector. As a 'farm boy' himself, he is acutely aware of the issues surrounding landowner concerns and questions. He always strives to produce a favourable outcome for all parties involved.

Dana Baisch, Human Relations Manager
Dana joined the MSL
family in 2006. She has over 15 years experience in the Human Relations
field. She earned a Bachelor of Administration degree from the
University of Regina and has taken several courses in Land
Administration, as well. Dana has brought her values of a positive team
environment to MSL and has helped develop several HR strategies which
contribute to the success of our company. Dana is also a member of the
Canadian Association of Petroleum Land Administration (CAPLA). In
addition to performing the Human Relations role, Dana
also manages FortisAlberta projects and Directive 35 – water well
testing for CBM (Coalbed Methane) wells.
